Rebirth of the ISSiS BECAUSE OF THIS, a core group of surgeons planned to resurrect the original aims and goals of the society, the main reasoning behind which can be seen in the following section, and therefore wished to restart the ‘International Society for Simulation Surgery’ like a Phoenix arising proudly from its ashes. At the joint meeting of the Japan Society for Simulation Surgery and the ISSiS on November 6th, 2004, in the Roppongi Forum, Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan the new ISSiS was officially founded under the Honorary Presidency of Keio University Professor Emeritus Toyomi Fujino, who was the founding president of the original ISSiS in 1992, and the Congress Presidency of Professor Yu Maruyama of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Toho University School of Medicine, who thereafter became the first President of the "new" ISSiS. For details of this 2004 meeting, please click HERE. The new ISSiS therefore encompasses the original concepts of simulation surgery as practised by plastic surgeons for more than 2000 years, incorporating the state-of-the-art in computer-aided simulation surgery, and wherever possible combining these two aspects to get better results for the patient, better training for surgeons and good preoperative education for the patient and his or her family. | ||||
